the days of rain we had in london were few and far between. today was a little different. we woke up to a cloudy windowsill, the air was cold and sharp down my throat as we walked towards the bus stop. the streets were busier than ever today as we decided to explore kew gardens. we jumped on a double decker bus and rode far away, out into the suburbs. the houses in kew were big and beautiful. they were decorated with manicured gardens, all pretty and perfect.
for as long as i can remember i have always wanted to visit kew gardens. it has been my dream to see their giant greenhouse in real life and take some pictures of it. we don't have anything that looks like this in australia, and just as i imagined the whole day was dream-like and beautiful. it rained but we didn't care, the sun still came out on occasion to warm our frozen skin. here is our day in pictures.

exploring the last greenhouse (while taking shelter away from the rain) that had 7 different environments. every room you walked into felt like you were walking into a different country in a different season of the year.
the rain finally stopped while we were inside the last greenhouse and i was finally able to get some pictures with the pink cherry blossoms.
swans are my favourite.
the sun came out again, the most beautiful way to end a perfect day.
i can't wait to visit you again kew gardens!

flying over l.a.
i know you have all been patiently waiting to hear about my adventures overseas and today i've finally finished putting everything together. there is so much to say and so much to show and i didn't want to miss out on a single second. i decided to split the blog posts into five different posts which will be published over the next few weeks! so on with the story..
a few weeks ago i was flown to london to shoot a campaign (which i will reveal everything about soon) and our stay there was amazing. dan and i were in london for two weeks and after a day there it already felt like home. we woke up early, some days even before the sun rose, and walked around the city until we felt like collapsing. my camera was home around my neck from the moment i was out the door and i hardly ever put it down for a second.
the flight over was long but i was filled with excitement and butterflies as the big aeroplanes took off leaving tiny cities behind and landed in different countries, slowly getting closer and closer to london. when we arrived dan and i were eager to explore the city and took a walk around. the first day we were there was the only day we were lost, but i didn't mind one bit walking down streets i didn't know and not knowing where to go next.
the days afterwards were a beautiful mess. we spent every second in between model castings, location scouting and meetings getting to know london and taking pictures of everything we saw. the city was blooming and there were busy people everywhere. we rode in taxis forcing our eyes shut whenever they u-turned on a busy street or squeezed in between too-tight places with cars, buses or people on either side of the taxi, we walked down long flights of stairs to watch live music in venues underground, we flicked through boxes and boxes of records in soho and had dinner at different pubs every night.
london won over my heart and i hope to be back there again soon, and again soon after that. i could spend forever wandering the streets and living the way we did for two weeks.

the evening before we left for paris, dan and i decided to go to london eye & see the big ben.

For this photoshoot we took some natural light portraits at an abandoned building and the surrounding gardens. I was using my Canon 5D mk2 and the Canon 35mm F1.4 mk1 lens. I edited all these photos with my Disposable Film Lightroom Preset Pack and my Lovestruck Lightroom Preset for those fun vintage tones.

it was so hard picking photos from this shoot! it was my first shoot of this year and things could not have gone any better than they did. megan, lisa and i explored the hills on the beachside and shot in between mountains and crashing waves at a giant beach with bright white sand and overgrowing tree roots which was almost all ours. they were both so wonderful to take pictures with, none of us wanted to finish shooting! the photos between from when the sun was dripping honey to the black sky can be found

on a heatwave friday, we wandered through the gravel pathways around a caravan park which slept next to the river and under the busy bridge of speeding cars. we shot in the front yards of the caravans, amongst the empty beer cans, piled up bicycles and conversations of the locals. we were so tempted to jump in the muddy water while we were shooting, the heat was unbearable during the day. but instead we giggled insanely when we were shooting under the sun and took refuge in one of the empty cabin rooms the owner of the park, a man by the name of cowboy, so kindly let us use for the day.

i met a girl on the side of the road, who skipped school and liked to wander the suburbs in the rain. she set fire to her lungs and held onto the summertime blues tightly in her pocket like a secret.

we started this day taking photos in fields of grass in the shade of big gum trees. as we were walking across the road in the heat, we stumbled across this abandoned house. at first we only saw the metal-skeleton clothing line lonelily standing and swaying in the breeze. as we went to knock on the front door to ask the owners if we could take a few photos in their yard, we found ripped fly screens on the windows and a vacated white house.
and so we spent the rest of the day resting on flower bushes with bees happily humming around our ankles, treading through the squelching grass (the front yard had been flooded and all our shoes were destroyed by the end of the day), sitting by the lavender flowers and getting tangled in tree branches.

and here are the final photos from our two day shoot for age of intimacy. we shot in a lovely antique store that had things hanging from every possible spot in the ceiling. old 60s music softly played in the background as we shot amongst the rocking chairs and walked along the creaking floorboards.

on day two, we drove back through the bumpy road (car sliding and girls screaming and chatting in between) to get to the abandoned castle, we shot in the wet fields of grass and muddy puddles until sundown.

last month, i shot age of intimacy's my deadly sins campaign for their newest collection. it was one of the craziest campaigns i've ever been a part of, split up into two days of mishaps and lovely moments where everything seems to somehow fall into place and fit together perfectly.
day one was a half day shoot. we planned to meet up in the beautiful wilderness of the blue moutains during the day, but pouring down rain and a broken car later, we get there just before dusk. the sun settled down as hair and makeup was finished and by the time we started shooting in this amazing abandoned castle, it was dark. we fired up the car's highbeams to shoot through the night. it was the middle of winter in sydney and poor coralie was freezing but was an absolute trooper and fought through the cold.
we had polaroid cameras to shoot behind the scenes with, and dozens of balloons to play around with. we filmed and shot while the rain came down, but we didn't stop until all the outfits had a lovely photo to go along with it. the drive back home was bumpy and muddy, but i got home and collapsed into bed. my few days beforehand of colour-starved eyes were finally full of lovely photos and moving-pictures to inspire me for day two of shooting.

on a lovelily-sunny spring afternoon, bree, jo and i went walking around the suburbs to take photos against purple houses, overgrown flowers in front yards and the big blue sky. we were kept company by house-cats, purring against bree as she perched on fences and we were invited to a stranger's home to take photos by their pool. these are our photos of our day running around on the road barefoot, stretching our limbs to warm in the sunshine.
