If you can only afford one prime lens, make sure this is the one you get! The 50mm focal length is a versatile prime for portrait photography, making it a great solo lens in your camera bag. I am using the Zeiss 50mm f1.4 on the full frame Sony A7III for this portrait photoshoot. But any 50mm will achieve the same results. When I could only afford one lens, my first choice was the budget friendly EF 50mm f1.4. I was able to shoot in so many different photography styles with this one lens.

Watch my video below to hear my portrait photography composition tips when using a 50mm prime lens. I demonstrate how to utilise your outdoor location to achieve great portraits. I also share the different looks you can create with just a 50mm focal length. I capture everything from movement, full body shots, mid-length portraits, sitting shots and even stunning close ups with this one lens.
