The GFX 100S is a medium format, 100MP camera from Fujifilm and for this portrait photoshoot, I’ll be using it with the GF 80mm f1.7. Each photo from the GFX100S is 11,648 by 8736 pixels and each uncompressed image is about 200 MB. If you want to download some high resolution images from this camera, find the link at the bottom of the blog post.

I felt like a lot of things were improved from the Fujifilm GFX100 to make this an easier to use, easier to shoot with camera, with better performance and results. The GF 80mm f1.7 is a gorgeous lens and I really hope Fujifilm have plans to release more lenses in this f1.7 range as it pairs perfectly with the medium format sensor. It makes shooting hand held in low light and doing portrait photography on the GFX series much more accessible. There seems to be a trend where I love low aperture lenses from Fujifilm, they also hit the mark with the XF 50mm f1.0.

I was using natural light for these urban portraits and I tried both a manual focus point and eye-AF on the GFX100S.
