The A6700 is an APS-C hybrid camera body with a 26 megapixel backside illuminated sensor. This camera features the new AI autofocus system first introduced by the A7RV. This means the A6700 has real time recognition autofocus since it features an AI processing unit just like the A7RV. It's great to see this new AF tech in an APS-C body especially considering price point of the camera. Aside from Human AF, it also includes animal, bird, insect, cars, trains and airplane AF in both photo and video mode.

The Sony A6700 has 759 phase detection AF points. Watch my complete review video below to see autofocus working in real time for both photo and video. Throughout this review video and portrait photoshoot, I am using 6 different lenses. These include:

G 15mm f1.4 APS-C lens

G 20mm f1.8

GM 24mm f1.4

GM 35mm f1.4

GM 70-200mm f2.8 MKII

G 200-600mm f5.6-6.3

The Sony A6700 to me, looks like an updated version of the A7C body. I know the Sony A7C wasn't everyone favourite camera body in regards to ergonomics, but Sony have fixed some of the main issues it had. First of all, the grip of the A6700 is thicker so it feels much better to hold. They also added a front dial which I sorely missed in the A7C.

This A6700 camera body has the same amount of C buttons as the A6600, however they've swapped around the positioning of record and C1. There is a new photo/video/S&Q dial which is separate to the mode dial. And while it doesn't have a joystick, I personally find the AF modes are so reliable that it's not completely necessary.

The A6700 unfortunately only features a single card slot. But at least it is a UHS-II SD card slot which is good to see. The on and off button is positioned to be slanted further to the right, making it more difficult to use. This can be a good thing to help avoid accidentally turning your camera on and draining the batteries while it's in your camera bag. The Sony A6700 uses the same FZ100 battery as most modern Sony bodies. It has the same ports as the A7C including microphone jack, headphone jack, USBC and Micro HDMI.

Be sure to watch my complete photo and video review of the Sony A6700. I share 100% crops of the unedited, straight out of camera photos so you can see all the details. I also share autofocus tests, video tests and a vlogging microphone test too so you can hear the audio quality. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't already!
