For this portrait photoshoot, I am making use of the Sony A6600 camera body and the Sony 35mm f1.8 lens.
The Sony A6600 is a crop-frame mirrorless camera in Sony’s Alpha series. It features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor that delivers images with excellent detail. The camera boasts Sony’s advanced BIONZ X image processor, which helps produce fast and accurate autofocus performance, including Real-time Eye AF for both humans and animals. The A6600 offers up to 11 frames per second continuous shooting, making it well-suited for capturing fast action. The camera offers in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), a feature not commonly found in APS-C models, which helps reduce camera shake for sharper handheld shots and smoother video.
The Sony 35mm f1.8 lens I am using is a prime lens designed specifically for Sony’s APS-C E-mount cameras. Its bright f1.8 maximum aperture allows for good low-light performance and helps create a pleasing shallow depth of field, giving subject separation and smooth background blur. This lens is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around for travel or day-to-day shooting. It features a fast and quiet autofocus system, suitable for both stills and video recording. Optical performance is strong, with sharp images, good contrast, and minimal distortion or chromatic aberration. Overall, the Sony 35mm f/1.8 is a solid, affordable option for APS-C users looking for a sharp, versatile prime lens that works well in a variety of shooting scenarios.
